It features a highly absorbent fluff filling, fluid-dispersing tissue, and a hydrophobic tissue backing that acts as a barrier to protect the wound from contamination. 

The hypoallergenic fibres are permeable to air and water, preventing skin irritation and allowing the skin's natural functions to continue. Its blue, water-repellent backing further ensures a robust barrier against contamination.
